Looks like democracy lost…my head hurts and my heart aches.
Paul Van Pelt says:
A foolish political ad appeared in my email today. It pointed out what I know: I have made zero contributions this year. Nor have I made any, for any year. There was an *uh oh* theme and a photo of the opposition candidate. This amused me, because the ad, allegedly, came from my party of assumption, attacking me for not shilling out, before E day. Therefore, there are several explantions for the ad, and, incessant ads preceding it. a., it was an ill-advised and desperate, origination from a campaign organization, irritated with my non-participation. b. they must believe I am someone else, Or, c.is countermeasure from the camp of the opposing party, aimed, somehow, at alienating me. None of those possibilities/suppositions have relevance now. I voted. Already. Over two weeks age.
Any questions, *uh oh* crowd?
Paul Van Pelt says:
I don’t see it as necessary to make the distinction. Why? Because it may as well have been framed, elsewise, such as: Will you vote for a politically astute person, or, for a sefl-demonstrated radical who values power and personal gain over all else? It hardly matters much whether voters are manly men or womanly women, if they are unable or unwilling to vote responsively and responsibly in a contest of this magnitude. One candidate has experience related to the office sought, but his former experience was often erratic, ill-considered or unpredictable. The opposing candidate, while not having sat at the helm, has administrative skills and sense enough to know what actions are responsive and responsible, and which ones are not. If, and only if, one understands a picture that is far bigger than its’ parts, can he or she fulfill the responsibility of participation in democratic process. Anything that falls into the realm of defiance or narcissism is irresponsibly unacceptable. A retired ALJ has tried to exercise good judgment. There is no help for those who don’t—or won’t—believe that. This is not, IMHO, a simple coin toss.
