2012 has arrived. When I was a kid, I watched Space 1999. When I was older, I read 1984, 2001 and 2010. As might be imagined, the world of today is not much like the world predicted in these works: we have no moon colony, no expedition to Jupiter, no real AI, and Big Brother turned out to be Facebook and Twitter.
However, it is good to make it to another year-despite the mistaken belief that 2012 will be the end of the world. That doesn’t arrive until 2030 with the Squirrel Apocalypse.
I ran 2,746 miles and 41 races this year. I am almost certainly no longer under warranty.
My New Year’s resolution is to break 19 minutes in a 5K. My best actual 5K last year was 19:01. Back in the day, I ran the 5K in 16:28 or faster-but time is somewhat unkind.
