Those familiar with World of Warcraft know that characters have three possible roles (limited by their class, of course). DPS characters deal out damage, Tanks keep the attention of the monsters and take damage so the more vulnerable party members do not die, and the Healer keeps everyone alive, especially the tank.
This approach seems like it would be a good one to use in politics as well. The DPS folks would focus on attacking the opposing political party, the Tanks would have the job of taking one for the team to protect the weaker party members and the Healers would work on damage and spin control.
Currently, the Republicans seem to have excellent DPS and have been doing serious damage to the Democrats. Obama is, of course, supposed to be the Tank. However, while he can really keep the hate focused on him, he has not been doing a great job in keeping his party members from being chopped up by Republicans. Or maybe he is supposed to the Healer. If so, he seems to be having a hard time keeping up with the Republican DPS. The Democrats also seem to do rather poorly at Healing-they generally take a few hits and go down. The Republicans do try damage control, but they mainly seem to rely on putting out the damage and the fact that the Democrats really suck at DPS.
Ha ha although I’m not an American I thought this was pretty clever.
Thanks for the linkage to HCTF! Great writeup on the 3 political classes as compared to WoW. Hope you’re enjoying the 4.01 patch!
