Gary Gygax, the co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, died today at age 69.
Dungeon & Dragons laid the basic foundation for the games of today-including many of the latest video games, such as Mass Effect. Concepts like character class, hit points, level, and armor class originated in D&D and are now standard features in the gaming world.
Gygax deserves a great deal of credit for the ongoing success of gaming-he was one of the founding greats in the field.
D&D had a huge impact on my life-setting me firmly on my Nerdtastic path. Thanks Gary.
Order of the Stick provided a fitting tribute for him.
