Some time ago I saw a CNN bit on a Facebook group. The group apparently consisted of women who 1) drank way too much, 2) did stupid things because of this and 3) felt obligated to photograph and post said drinking and “stupiding” (I’ll make up words if I want).
The reporter doing the story asked some of the women the obvious: is it a good idea to post photos like that where potential employers can see them? In reply, some women took down their photos. One woman said that she hoped the employers would look past the pictures and, presumably, see the real her.
But, the pictures seem to show the real her: someone who gets drunk regularly and has very poor judgment. Most people drink and many people drink a great deal. But, posting photos of heavy drinking and stupid post drinking behavior (such as being sprawled in the street or worse) shows very poor judgment. Few businesses want to hire people like that and rightfully so. If I was running a corporation, I would want people with enough sense to stay out of traffic when drunk-or with at least enough sense to conceal that sort of behavior. After all, if you must be drunk and stupid, for God’s sake don’t advertise that. 🙂
